The Scott Hannon Foundation is an "Angel"

As we approach the giving season, the dilemma facing a lot of people is trying to figure out who to support with their charitable dollars. It is hard to know who to trust. In 1995, the South Carolina Secretary of State initiated a program to assist donors, called the Scrooges & Angels list. This list serves as a warning about charities that use very little of their funds for their stated programs, and also as an endorsement of charities that are effective stewards of the money they receive.

Each year ten charities, out of the over eight thousand operating in South Carolina, are recognized as either a scrooge or an angel. It is with great enthusiasm, that the Board of Directors announces that The Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation has been named by the Secretary of State as an Angel Charity for 2007.

There is no higher recognition to receive as a charity in South Carolina. It is a 5-star review given by the people who are tasked with monitoring the effectiveness of charities. Members of the Board of Directors attended the announcement ceremony at the State House in Columbia on November 14.

Venue and Date for the 2010 Hannon Fall Classic

The Hannon Fall Classic will be a golfing highlight to be played on October 11. The third annual event will once again be played on the beautiful Cliff's at Keowee Vinyards course on the shores of Lake Keowee. Be on the lookout for the invitations that will go out sometime in early August.

Foundation Receives National Award

The Board of Directors is proud to announce the selection of The Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation as the 2004 recipient of the United Methodist Association’s Volunteer Group of the Year Award.

Our consideration for this award was based on our continued support of the children and ministries of Epworth Children’s Home. The United Methodist Association is a national organization of several thousand churches and faith based ministries. This is the highest honor they bestow on a volunteer organization each year.

Representatives from the Board of Directors attended the UMA national convention in Nashville on March 5 to receive the award. Our thanks to Dr. Richard Hodges and his wonderful staff for submitting our name for consideration. We are continually honored and blessed by our relationship with him and Epworth Children’s Home.
